Witton Gilbert Sewage Treatment Works WINEP

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing new tertiary treatment plant to enable the site to contribute to a catchment wide reduction in phosphorous discharges. The improvement works is one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive an upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality.

Community Hub Admin Team 8 hours ago Hi everyone, As part of the project, we will be installing new equipment for the safe storage and dosing of treatment chemicals, along with enhanced monitoring systems to support the effective control of water quality. The work will also include widening a section of the site access road to ensure safe and efficient access for delivery vehicles, supporting both the installation and operation of the new equipment.During construction, a temporary works compound will be established within the existing site boundary. Once complete, these upgrades will help ensure the treatment works continues to operate safely, efficiently, and in line with modern environmental standards.Our trusted delivery partner, Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB), is scheduled to begin work on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, with completion expected in December 2026.We appreciate your patience and understanding while we carry out this important work. Go Vocal Admin1 year ago All the temporary pipe work has been set up supplying flows to the temporary High Sensitivity Acoustic Flow Sensors.In the next month or so we will be demolishing the existing tanks and removing them from site. These tanks will be transported from the site using the farmer's access track meaning little or no impact to the walkers and dog walkers who use the access track to the site.We will deliver and install new critical infrastructure at the end of February 2025, and complete all above ground pipe work and power up the new plant in March 2025All being well the works should be substantially complete by mid May 2025.
