Whitley Bay Lead Replacement

Project Overview

Northumbrian Water is working in certain areas of Whitley Bay renewing our pipework and replacing old water supply pipes, made of lead.

We’re focusing on specific streets where homes are more likely to have older pipes, still made of lead. Using local infrastructure records and property age data, we’ve identified parts of Whitley Bay where these older pipes are likely to still be in use, and we will be gradually working our way through these areas.

Community Hub Admin Team 4 weeks ago Project Update - July 2026From August the lead pipe replacement programme will be working in the following roads, replacing our communication pipes, which connect the water main in the road to the boundary box for each property. Fairfield GreenWestward Green To check your water supply pipe, we need to carry out a quick survey. Many residents in this area have already had this survey carried out. If that is the case, there’s no need to contact us again. If you have not yet had a survey and would like one, please get in touch.While carrying out our work, if we discover that your water supply pipe is made of lead we will contact you to offer a free replacement. Any work on your property will only be carried out with your permission.Although this section of pipework is the homeowner's responsibility, we're offering to replace it as part of this programme of work.To arrange a survey, call 0191 916 9211, text 07973 702114 or email leadrenewals@unitedliving.co.uk.
