Morpeth Wastewater Treatment Works
Project Overview
We're investing up to £27 million at Morpeth Wastewater Treatment Works to help protect local rivers while supporting future growth in the area.
These improvements will increase the site's treatment capacity and help remove more phosphorus from treated water. Phosphorus is a naturally occurring nutrient, but too much of it can encourage excessive algae growth, which can affect river water quality and local wildlife.
This is part of a wider programme of environmental improvements taking place across the region to help create healthier waterways for current and future generations.
This page will keep you updated throughout the project and provide opportunities to learn more about the work.
