Howdon Sewage Treatment Work Upgrade

Howdon Sewage Treatment Works plays an important role in treating wastewater for more than one million customers across Tyneside and the surrounding area.

To continue providing a reliable service now and in the future, Northumbrian Water is planning a major investment in the site. These improvements will help the treatment works continue to meet the needs of local communities, support population growth, and protect the environment for future generations.

We are currently in the early planning stages of this programme and will share more information as the project develops.
