Greatham Sewage Treatment Works

We are investing £800k to improve the performance of our sewage treatment works at Greatham. The work will involve an upgrade of the current facilities. This will aid NWL in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.

Go Vocal Admin11 months ago Hello all, Update about work in your areaAs you know Esh Stantec working on behalf of Northumbrian Water have been carrying out essential work at our sewage treatment works in Greatham. I’m pleased to be able to let you know that this work is now complete, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and support and appreciate that you’re likely to have experienced some disruption during the period of this essential work.The work we have successfully completed will help to protect the environment, including Greatham Beck and watercourses downstream, by reducing the potential for spills from our site. The increased capacity provided by our work will essentially mean that we can hold much more waste and storm water on site during periods of heavy rainfall.Should you have any questions please comment on this page or contacts us at NWL.Customer@esh.uk.com. Go Vocal Admin1 year ago The Storm Tank has now been constructed and the water test is scheduled for next week.The access stairs and platform for the Storm Tank is in place, including the outlet pipework for the overflow has been installed.Outlet pipework to take storm water back into the works via the recirculation pumping station is going in this week.Commissioning of the sensor and telemetry equipment is scheduled for the Monday 10 March.Extension of the palisade fence around the new part of the treatment works has been erected.
