Durham Transfer WINEP

As part of an £10 million scheme, Northumbrian Water will be carrying out essential works to improve the performance and flexibility of our wastewater network and wastewater treatment works in the Plawsworth, Pity Me and Brasside areas of County Durham. The scheme will help to improve the water quality of the Blackdene Burn for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife and ensure that critical wastewater assets continue to serve the community effectively.

Go Vocal Admin1 year ago Hello All, Important update on completed work in your areaThe good news is that we have now substantially completed construction work associated with the Durham Transfer project. The project has added flexibility to our sewage treatment provision at Plawsworth and Pity Me and will help to improve the water quality of the Blackdene Burn and ensure that the treatment facilities and connecting network continues to serve the community effectively. The upgrade work included the construction of:Two new transfer pumping stations at Plawsworth and Pity Me Sewage Treatment Works Circa 3km of pumped mainsCirca 3km of gravity sewer including critical pipework beneath the East Coast Main Line and pipe bridge crossing the Redhouse Gill (Brasside)While we have completed all construction work and commissioned the new transfer pumping stations, we are still completing final field reinstatement along the pipeline easement and our main compound site off Finchale Road. Thank you for your patience and support.

Go Vocal Admin1 year ago The team and currently removing the main compound and have begun to reinstate the area.Top soiling has commenced, and a gravel strip is being placed in Pity Me Sewerage Treatment Works in preparation for the concrete around the shaft. Concrete slabs are installed in Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works and the team have been top soiling and cleaning the working area. Installation of the Aco channel to the entrance of Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works will be completed over the next week.Please contact us direct if you have any questions at nwl.customer@esh.uk.com.

Go Vocal Admin1 year ago As you might have noticed, we are now back on site, positioning and setting access covers to the shaft at Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works. The team are cleaning out and placing the gravel strip behind the MCC kiosk and generator.Preparation for the concrete pour has begun at Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works. The team are using a 14-tonne excavator to reinstate the compound area and load away the hardstanding area before reinstating commences.Access covers are being lifted into position and set into the shaft and the valve chamber ready for concrete.Please contact us direct if you have any questions at nwl.customer@esh.uk.com.
