Go Vocal Admin•8 months ago Hi everyone,Following some queries about the project and what will happen when we leave site, we wanted to give you an update and a look ahead to what people can expect to be happening on site. This project is to upgrade our sewer network and protect the environment in and around the Coundon Burn. It is being carried out on land west of the A688 near New Coundon and on the existing network within the park. Working in partnership with Esh-Stantec, we will be adding storage to, and altering the course of the network, moving it away from the burn itself. We are also renewing 1000m of existing sewer pipeline within the park through non-intrusive methods to protect the setting and ecological importance of the park.Work began on this £5.7M project in March and major construction works are anticipated to be completed in the Winter of 2025. Progress is going well, and we are currently carrying out some tunnelling work that enables us to install pipes without the need to dig trenches, helping to protect the local environment and avoid impacting the burn. The installation of the 1000m of pipeline renewal has also begun and you may see our temporary sewer within the park, which will be removed on completion of this element of the works. To enable the project to take place, we have needed to create some access roads for the team and equipment to get on and off site when needed, but these are temporary, for the duration of the project. Upon completion of this project, these will be removed and the land reinstated to as it was before we arrived. So, please do be assured, the temporary roads we have created will not be left in place and the land will return to its previous condition. We expect to have complete our reinstatement works in Spring 2026. Thank you.
