Belmont Environmental Improvements

Project Overview

At Northumbrian Water, we're committed to protecting and improving our rivers. As part of our Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), we're planning improvements in the Belmont area to help improve water quality in the River Wear.

We're currently carrying out surveys to better understand the local wastewater network and identify the best long-term solution. This work is still at an early stage, and the results will help shape our plans. The proposed improvements aim to reduce the number of storm overflow spills into the River Wear, helping to create a cleaner, healthier environment for local communities and wildlife.
