We are investing £2M to improve the performance of our sewage treatment works at Bellingham. The work will involve an upgrade of the storm water storage provision. This will aid NWL in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.

Go Vocal Admin10 months ago Good afternoon, The team are beginning to install new curbs within the Sewerage Treatment Works (STW) prior to tarmac starting week commencing 23 June 2025. The motor control centre (MCC) will be installed in July, this will be the centralised system to control and manage the equipment within the STW. Pathways are being erected and concreted ready for our contractor Retroflow to begin maintenance work. Go Vocal Admin11 months ago Hello All, Over the last few weeks, the team have been working on the control chamber, which is now successfully installed. This week the team will begin water and air testing on the chamber to make sure it is fully compliant. Go Vocal Admin1 year ago As you might have noticed, we are now back on site and you are likely to see a lot more of the construction team as we work through the first few months of the year.The new tank is progressing well, despite the recent cold weather. The team are transporting spoil off site, and are over coming daily challenges due to the cold/wet weather. The roads are being kept clean and maintained as the work progresses. Go Vocal Admin1 year ago We just want to take a minute to introduce ourselves to you all, we work for the contract partner, Esh Stantec who will be delivering the work in this area. I had the pleasure to speak to many of you while I was in the area last week. For those I didn't manage to speak to, you will start to see Christine, Alice and I in the area more, please feel free to approach us and the crews and ask any questions.As the letter mentions this essential work will help to protect and improve the water quality in the River North Tyne and ensure that the treatment facility in Bellingham remains resilient.
