Barrasford Eel Screens

This project is to provide compliant eel exclusion screens at Barrasford Raw Water Pumping Station, replacing the existing non‑compliant fine/band screens. The new screens are required to protect eel in the watercourse. Works will commence in June 2024 and are anticipated to be complete by December 2028.

Traffic Information

Construction vehicles will access the site via the public highway between Chollerton and Barrasford village, turning onto the gated track that leads to Northumbrian Water’s Barrasford Raw Water Pumping Station intake.

To minimise disruption for local residents, no construction traffic is planned to travel through Barrasford village. All construction traffic will approach the site from the A68.
