Prior to the main work, our partners, Farrans (& IGNE) who are working on our behalf, will be digging some boreholes and trial holes across the Consett catchment to provide vital information about ground conditions in the areas we will be constructing.This will take place between 20th July 2026 and 30th October 2026.Some of the boreholes and trial holes may be within the highway and will need traffic management. Community Hub Admin Team 23 hours ago Good morning allAs we continue to progress construction activities as part of the Barrasford Pumping Station project, a temporary diversion of a section of the Public Footpath is in place and has been approved by Northumberland County Council, to support the safe delivery of the works.The affected section of footpath is located alongside the eastern bank of the River North Tyne, adjacent to the pumping station construction site. The diversion is necessary to ensure the safety of both members of the public and site personnel while construction activities are being undertaken in the area.A clear sign posted diversion will be available throughout the duration of the closure allowing pedestrians to continue accessing the surrounding area safely. Community Hub Admin Team 1 week ago Hi everyoneWe wanted to provide a further update on the water booster installation project.We are pleased to confirm that the booster station installation works have been completed and the booster station was fully commissioned on 1 July 2026.However, following commissioning on Wednesday and into Thursday afternoon, we identified an operational issue affecting the performance of the new equipment. Our Operations Team is currently investigating this matter and working to identify and implement the appropriate solution as quickly as possible.While the booster station itself has now been commissioned, there are also further improvement works planned over the coming months. These works will involve transferring a number of properties onto the improved pressure network. We will contact the affected properties directly in due course with further information about these changes and what they may mean for customers.In addition, we have now completed the reinstatement of the general area surrounding the site. The grassed areas have been seeded and, while this will take some time to establish, we expect vegetation growth to become visible over the coming months.We appreciate that the ongoing issues following commissioning may be disappointing, particularly given the delays experienced during the project. Please be assured that we are actively investigating the operational issue and remain committed to delivering the intended improvements to customers' water supplies.We'll continue to keep you informed and will provide a further update once our investigations are complete and we are able to confirm the next steps.Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.The Project Team

This hub is where we'll share regular updates on the project to keep you informed as work progresses, and it also provides a place for you to ask any questions.The team includes Northumbrian Water’s Project Manager, Graeme, Customer Care Manager, Dave along with JN Bentley’s Customer Liaison Officer, Bethany, and Site Agent, Mark.To begin, we’d like to share some upcoming activities that you may notice over the coming months:From late June, we will re-mobilise on site with a small compound at the pumping station. During June and July, we will carry out maintenance to the access track, protect existing buried services such as underground pipes and cables, and start setting up the main works compound in the South East corner of the field. This will include safely redirecting the public footpath around the work area, installing secure fencing, removing the top layer of soil, and laying a stone surface to create a stable working area.From August to September 2026, we will continue with smaller preparation works ahead of the main construction phase. This includes getting the site ready for major activity starting in October, when the main compound will be fully set up.Be sure to check back on the Community Hub regularly for the latest updates on the project’s progress!Thank youThe Project Team

Community Hub Admin Team 4 weeks ago Hello everyoneFurther to our previous correspondence about the water network improvement works between Pickwick Cross and Saltwick, we're writing to provide an update on the next stage of this project.Following confirmation of the revised booster station location between the entrance to Greystoke Place and the entrance to Start Up Farm, we can now advise that construction work is scheduled to begin on Monday 6 July 2026. This phase of the work will include installation of the booster station at this revised location, which was selected following feedback from residents and further site assessment to minimise local impact. Traffic management arrangementsTo ensure the safety of both the public and our workforce, traffic management will be required while these works are carried out.This will involve a temporary road closure on the section of road between: the entrance to Greystoke Place, and the entrance to Start Up Farm The road closure is expected to be in place for approximately three weeks. Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place, and access for residents will be maintained wherever possible. Our team will also be on hand to assist and minimise disruption throughout this period. We understand that these works may cause some inconvenience and would like to thank you in advance for your continued patience while we complete these essential improvements to the local water network. Community Hub Admin Team 3 weeks ago Park RoadThe surface water separation works are around 60% complete at the top of Hustledown Road. Traffic management will be temporarily removed on Sunday 28 June 2026. Land cultivation and footpath reinstatement is in progress. The combined sewer installation is also now complete.The combined sewer installation is now complete along Rydal Avenue. We've now started working on the surface water drainage along Rydal Avenue where a road closure will be in place for approximately 6 weeks.Sustainable Urban Drainage and Storage Tank is now complete within Greenlands.From Monday 29 June 2026 a road closure will be in place at the bottom of Charlotte Street for approximately 4 weeks. Community Hub Admin Team 3 weeks ago Hi everyoneThanks for your patience whilst we work to finalise.We'd like to provide an update on the temporary road closure currently in place on Dock Road following safety concerns identified during our ongoing construction works.During works carried out on Sunday 7 June 2026, it was discovered that a section of the road had become undermined adjacent to the active traffic lane. In the interest of public safety, works were immediately halted and a road closure was implemented while the affected area could be assessed and stabilised.Our contractor has been carrying out the necessary investigations and remedial works, including implementing ground support and temporary protection measures to reinstate the affected section safely.We're pleased to advise that progress is continuing as planned, and we currently anticipate that all works on Dock Road will be completed and the road closure removed by Sunday 28 June 2026, subject to weather conditions and any unforeseen circumstances.We appreciate the inconvenience this closure may have caused and would like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience and understanding while these important safety works are completed. Community Hub Admin Team 2 months ago Hello everyonePlease see below an update on our works around the Avon Road and Park Road areas.Avon Road Progress has been a steady start due to the number of services we've encountered after making the connection to the existing drain. The road crossing is now installed to a point, so the attenuation tank can be installed on Lenin Terrace.We're making good progress on the diverted foul sewer, running up Marx Crescent with all topsoil stripped and drainage installation in progress.We'll have more updates to come over the next few weeks so please keep your eye out for them. Park RoadWe're currently working on the upsizing of the combined sewer on Rydal Avenue which is due to completed in the coming weeks.The storage tank and flow control chamber has now been installed within the Greenlands grassed area with only the headwalls and reinstatements to complete.We continue with surface water separation on Hustledown Road grass verge and recommence with combined sewer upsizing at the top of Hustledown Road.Should you have any questions please comment on this page or contacts us at NWL.Customer@esh.uk.com.Kind regardsThe Project Team

The treatment works have been handed back to Northumbrian Water, and they have issued a "Takeover Certificate" for the completed civils, mechanical, electrical, and process works.Our site team will return to the treatment works to construct a new section of footpath between the return pump kiosk and the adjacent footpath. These works will be completed in the Summer. The upgraded plant is fully operational and is working to the required standards.Thanks for all your patience throughout this process.The Project Team
