We're Planning Some Work in your Area
From "South Stanley and Craghead Environmental Improvements"

Hi everyone,
As part of the Northumbria Integrated Drainage Partnership (NIDP), Northumbrian Water, Durham County Council and the Environment Agency are working with communities to proactively reduce the risk of flooding to homes and businesses and protect the environment. As part of this commitment, we are working with our supply partner, Esh-Stantec to undertake work to improve the performance of the sewer network in South Moor. This essential work will ensure that the sewer network continues to serve the community effectively and reduces the risk of flooding in your area.
The work that we are proposing will involve the construction of new sewers in various areas of South Moor. The work will take place in Park Road, Hustledown Road and surrounding streets and some road closures will be required to allow us to undertake our work safely but these will be limited to the streets to either side of Park Road. We will need temporary traffic lights at certain times on Park Road and Hustledown Road.
Subject to final business approval, we plan to start construction work in Autumn 2025 and expect the work to take up to 18 months to complete. Once our works are underway we’ll be posting regular updates so please sign up for these.
Enclosed is ‘Our Guiding Principles’ booklet which gives further advice and answers to some frequently asked questions. We will be writing to you again in advance of any work starting but would welcome your views and any comments you may have about our proposals at this stage.
If you would like to speak to a member of our Project Team, you can telephone our customer contact centre on 0345 717 1100 or via X @nwater_care. Whichever way is best, we’d really like to hear from you
