We wanted to let you know of a slight delay to our planned Northumbrian Integrated Drainage Partnership (NIDP) flood reduction work, to allow for further environmental investigations.
The work was due to commence on 27 July 2026. However, following further site assessments, we have identified additional ecological considerations that require review before construction can begin. As a result, the planned start date has been postponed until we complete the necessary investigations and confirm the next appropriate steps
🌿 Why has the work been delayed?
During recent site assessments, further ecological considerations were identified that require additional review before work can begin. Taking the time to complete these checks is an important part of making sure the scheme is delivered in line with environmental requirements and best practice.
📅 What happens next?
We're working closely with our partners to complete the investigations as quickly as possible. Once this process is complete, we'll confirm an updated programme and revised start date.
