Project Update from 27/06/2024
From "Thriving Catchments"
Go to the project
We’ve made great progress on our water quality monitoring programme across several regions’ waterbodies. We’ve installed a substantial number of in-river flow monitors and several rain gauge instruments at key locations in our operating area, which will collect real-time flow and rain data. By better understanding these locations and collecting real time data we can shape our proposals for catchment and nature-based solutions in these areas.
As our project progresses we'll be posting more updates so keep a look out for future posts.

Great project but now there’s an oil/diesel spill on Waskerley Beck first reported last Friday. No visible action by Northumbria Water. Ducks and other wildlife visibly affected.

@Perry Gardner Hi Perry, thank you for taking time to alert us to a fuel-like substance which was observed in a nearby watercourse at Waskerley. After further detailed investigations we have confirmed that the fuel like substance is not related to Northumbrian Water (NW) assets. The substance appears to be the result of a fuel or oil spillage on land that has entered the watercourse.
Please be rest assured the Environment Agency are fully aware and currently taking action to implement mitigation methods to contain any contamination.
