Good afternoon everyone
As we head into the autumn months and the kids are back to school, I thought I would share a quick update on the progress of the Eel screening scheme on the River Tyne.
Work is continuing on the Ovingham project, with good progress made during August. The project is now around 96% complete, with work continuing on the screens, penstocks and surrounding areas.
Over the coming weeks, the team plans to continue work on the screen chambers, complete the remaining metalwork and carry out final reinstatement works around the site.
Some mechanical issues with the existing penstocks are currently being worked through and may affect the programme. The planned completion date remains the end of September 2026.
