From "Sedgeletch Environmental Improvement"
Go to the project
Hi everyone,
Important update on planned work in your area
We want to keep you informed about the progress of our £11 million investment programme to improve and protect the local environment in Sedgeletch. This work will enhance water quality in the Lumley Burn and ensure that our treatment facility continues to serve the community effectively for the future.
Details of the Works
In advance of the commencement of the main improvement works, we need to carry out essential preparation activities, including vegetation clearance along Herrington Burn, within Elba Park, and near the A183 in the Lambton area.
Work will commence on 23 March 2026, with completion expected by 10 April 2026. Working collaboratively with our supply partner, Avove, and contractor, Premier Landscaping, we will be undertaking vegetation clearance along the Herrington Burn, within Elba Park, and near the A183 in the Lambton area.
This will include the removal of a small number of trees, general vegetation clearance, and the treatment and control of giant hogweed to ensure the site is safe and accessible for the larger works that will follow. We fully understand the importance of the natural environment and want to reassure you that any vegetation removed as part of these early preparation works will be appropriately restored once the main project is complete.
Additionally, you may notice increased activity during this period, including additional vehicles and some noise associated with site operations. Our working hours will be 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we carry out this important work. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
