Project Update 17/02/2026

From "Coundon Burn Sewer"

Go to the project

Hi everyone,

Please see below an update for Coundon Burn Sewer.

The South side of Coundon Burn remains partially reinstated. At present, the subsoil has been ripped and topsoil replaced from storage heaps. Landscape contractors are to turn over and seed all grassed areas once the weather conditions improve.

Completion of the inspection works to the new drainage runs and storm water Tank to the North side of Coundon Burn, will allow the Northern Sewer to be ready to accept new flows.

Enabling works for the concrete Grasscrete roadway have been completed, with imported stone foundation now in place ahead of Concrete Roadway planned for later in February 2026.

Concrete mowing strips to the edge of new manhole covers and storm water Tank chamber covers are mostly completed.

Reconstruction works to the masonry wall around the perimeter of site are ongoing by specialist Stonemason subcontractors.

Partial removal of stone access track has commenced between the Railway Embankment and ESH site compound. Works delayed due to recent inclement weather and saturated ground conditions.

Amendments to concrete chamber within the existing manhole will allow transfer of flows into the new Northern sewer. Transfer of flows means existing sewer flows are permanently blocked from flowing over the existing pipe bridge. The existing pipe bridge will be sealed off from flows. Cleaned out by a specialist drainage contractor before being carefully dismantled and demolished materials removed off site.
