Project Update 16/03/2026

From "Springwell Enhancements Project"

Go to the project

Hi everyone,

The landscaping contractor has began with planting along the Northern Boundary of the Reservoir. They will also be returning to replant hedges and reinstate fencing along Springwell Road from Monday 16th March, where these were temporarily removed to allow access.

As progress on site continues, work on constructing the Southern Access Road will carry on this week. To allow the team to work safely in this area and complete the construction of the road, traffic management will be in place along Mount Lane.

We have included a drawing showing the location of the temporary traffic lights, which will remain in place until Friday 27th March.

Over the next few weeks, you may also notice the gradual reduction of the site compound. Some of the site cabins and stone will be removed as part of this phase of work.

Thank you for your cooperation while traffic management was set up along Mount Park Road to support the relocation of the topsoil bund into the reservoir site. This part of the project is progressing well, and we kindly ask road users to be mindful of local speed limits to help maintain a safe environment for everyone.

A quick reminder that some members of the Project Team will be attending the Springwell Village Residents Association meeting tomorrow at Springwell Social Club at 6:30pm.

If you have any questions about the project, please feel free to add them in the comment box below.

Many thanks,

The Project Team

Good evening would like to raise the issue of dust again, today 17/03/26 I bought a new car and parked it on my drive at 16:30, by 19,30 I was able to write NWL in the dust on the roof of my new car, I have already raised the issue of dust and was told that the amount of dust generated was not excessive and would not cause any problems, I'm not sure you fully understand the levels of dust being generated by the site, as I say my brand new car has been parked up for approx 3 hours and I'm now able to write your name in dust on the roof of my car. Whilst I fully understand a project of this size will cause disruption and some level of dust I refuse to believe the current levels are what are acceptable, I have taken some photographs should you like to see them and I would like to know what you plan to do to rectify the concerns I'm having.

Hi Keith, thank you for your message and for your patience while I investigated this further. I wanted to make sure I provided a thorough response to address your questions fully and rectify your concerns. I’m sorry to hear about the level of dust you’ve experienced. After speaking with the site team, additional measures will be put in place, including applying water to the working area at various points throughout the day to help dampen the ground and minimize excess dust. A road sweeper will continue to operate throughout the day along Mount Park Road to help keep the surrounding area as clean as possible. Please get in touch if you have other questions and will happily support you with this. Thank you, The Project Team
